Pasco County Schools have recently been recognized as significant examples of schools that meet and exceed the State's new higher standards for quality. In fact, in 1998, twelve schools received the Commissioners of Education's Five Star School Award. This is the highest award available to exemplary school in the State of Florida. In addition, students from Pasco County's fourth and fifth grade levels were models for the state's new Comprehensive Assessment Test, which sets a higher standard for students in the entire state of Florida. Pasco County is currently working on several new projects including an International Baccalaureate Program for ninth grade students, continuing advancements in the Gifted Program, and school-age child care a Learning and Activity Centers of Enrichment.
